Dr. Holly Capello

Mental Health Director

Dr. Holly Cappello is the Mental Health Director of Commun, a community-oriented agency working to provide wholistic care and food sovereignty to southwest Denver neighborhoods. In her role, she works to teach and provide evidence based, multiculturally sensitive treatment to individuals across the life span.

Dr. Cappello has devoted her professional career to working with underserved populations from varied ethnic, cultural, and racial backgrounds. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Denver, her master’s degree in clinical psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin. Her primary areas of specialization include treating traumatic symptoms in children, adolescents, and adults.

Before coming to Commun, Dr. Cappello sat on Commun’s Board of Directors and spent 15 years at Aurora Mental Health Center as a program director and therapist, 6.5 years developing the Trauma Informed Care Team at Colorado Mental Health Institute at Ft. Logan, and 4.5 years at Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Dr. Cappello enjoys working collaboratively with others to ensure high quality mental health care for all people regardless of their ability to pay.
